Rize to fully migrate to AWS to support Islamic digital banking solutions

Rize, the digital bank of Al Rajhi Bank Malaysia, will migrate its IT infrastructure to Amazon Web Services (AWS).

The cloud migration is expected to be completed by 2026. The Islamic bank is already utilizing AWS’s products and services including containers, databases, and compute to deliver financial services for its digital bank, Rize.

Now that the bank has appointed AWS as its sole cloud provider for Rize, the digital bank will have access to AWS’s range of services including Amazon Elastic Kubernetes Service, which gives customers the flexibility to start, run, and scale Kubernetes applications on AWS. This will allow Rize to build digital banking products using microservices.

Rize will also be able to leverage customer datasets to enable more personalized services using Amazon DynamoDB, a NoSQL database service, and Amazon Relational Database Service, a fully managed, open-source cloud database service.

“With AWS, we were able to quickly build Rize, a mobile-first, highly scalable digital bank offering a seamless customer experience, within 12 months from conception to reality,” said Arsalaan Ahmed, CEO of Al Rajhi Bank Malaysia. “AWS gives us the agility and confidence to deliver new innovative banking services with Rize that meet local regulatory requirements, helping Rizers better manage their finances.”
