Bank Nizwa rolls out WhatsApp banking

Bank Nizwa is the latest to join the WhatsApp banking bandwagon, capitalizing on the phenomenal popularity of the mobile messaging app to engage its customers.

With over two billion monthly active users, WhatsApp is one of the most popular mobile messaging apps in the world. Businesses including banks have turned to the platform to be connected to their customers. Islamic banks are no exception.

“In today’s rapidly evolving banking environment, digitalization and financial technology are the key enablers of product and service innovation. At Bank Nizwa too, developing the IT infrastructure is one of our most important strategic goals for the short and long term,” explained Arif Maqbool Al Zaabi, Bank Nizwa’s assistant general manager of retail banking.

For Bank Nizwa, investing in innovation is essential to differentiate itself from the competition. The launch of its WhatsApp banking service is a step toward becoming the “digital bank of choice” in Oman, Arif added.

The new service supports product-related queries and provides information on its services including banking accounts, cards, financing and Takaful among others.
