Indonesia sets up National Payment Gateway

The central bank of Indonesia, Bank Indonesia, has established the National Payment Gateway, which will assist the government in the distribution of non-cash social assistance, toll road electronics and public transportation, including finance and the development of a national electronic commerce-based system. The first stage of the gateway will see the introduction of ATM/debit cards with the national logo used for domestic transaction and acceptable at all merchant payment terminals in the country.
