Islamic finance veteran joins data analytics start-up

Hardly a month into his retirement, Daud Vicary Abdullah has been invited to be the founding member of the advisory board to Finalytix, a Silicon Valley financial analytics start-up.

In his new capacity, the seasoned Islamic finance professional will provide strategic guidance to the management as the firm enters a new growth phase.

“We conducted an exhaustive search for someone who would add breadth of talent and deep financial background to our new advisory board, and we are delighted to have identified such an outstanding individual,” said Omar Rana, Finalytix’s co-founder and the director of strategy and finance. “I’m confident that Daud is going to make a major impact on Finalytix as it grows its offering and footprint globally.”

Finalytix is a wealth management-focused fintech start-up that uses proprietary technology to identify asymmetrical information to assist individuals in wealth preservation and expansion as well as risk mitigation and investment optimization. With the addition of Daud as an advisor, it would not be surprising if the Californian firm began exploring or making a greater push in the realm of Islamic and ethical finance.

Daud is, after all, an industry veteran with an illustrious career including CEO and president of the International Center for Education in Islamic Finance (INCEIF), CEO of Hong Leong Islamic Bank, COO and acting CEO of Asian Finance Bank  and the global leader for Islamic finance at Deloitte, among others. Daud also currently serves on the board of trustees of the Responsible Finance Institute and is a member of the UK-based Global Islamic Finance Investment Group. IFN Fintech understands that fintech is one area of focus Daud would like to be more involved in since retiring from the INCEIF last month after serving for six years.
