MRC proposes changes to Iranian crypto mining rules

The Majlis Research Center (MRC) of Iran has called for changes to cryptocurrency mining regulations to make the industry more profitable for miners and the economy, Financial Tribune reported.

The changes include requiring the Energy Ministry to supply crypto miners with the needed electricity at up to IRR4,000 (9.49 US cents) per kilowatt-hour (except in the three months of summer when power consumption peaks), and tax rules for mining units should be the same as other businesses, with the generated taxes used to develop water supply systems in rural areas.
