US social innovator establishes fintech start-up to facilitate Hajj

Taking a leaf out of Malaysia’s book with regards to the national Hajj pilgrimage board, a US-based fintech start-up is looking to facilitate Muslims to perform Hajj through savings and investment programs.

Dustin Craun, CEO and founder of Life Beyond Borders Studio, has launched Hajj Builder, a fintech start-up focusing on assisting Muslims go on Hajj by using savings and investment programs.

Craun, who is also the co-founder of Salaam Bank, a mobile-direct bank, tells IFN Fintech that the model for the online Hajj and Umrah savings, investment and travel marketplace, is based on Malaysia’s Lembaga Tabung Haji. Set to launch this year, the global start-up’s initial focus is the US market.
