Wahed recruits investment banking veteran to lead Dubai operations

After an extensive career on Wall Street and in the Middle East, Kashif Khan has joined digital investment management start-up Wahed Invest.

As the senior executive officer and managing director of Wahed Invest’s Dubai operations, Kashif is tasked with developing the robo-advisor’s institutional business and diversifying its revenue streams by venturing into investment banking and asset management.

Kashif began his career on Wall Street working with the likes of Salomon Smith Barney before moving to the Middle East in 2002 where he has originated deals and advised on mergers and acquisitions, capital raising, business carve-outs and restructurings. In 2012, he co-launched Abwab Capital, a boutique investment banking firm at the Dubai International Financial Center.

The New York-headquartered start-up, now licensed in nine countries and serving over 100,000 custoemrs, is banking on Kashif’s experience and network built over decades in the investment banking sector in the US, Middle East and Asia, to grow its business and support its aspiration of becoming a global digital Islamic bank.
