Anticipating a surge in money transfers during Eid, the Central Bank of Kuwait (CBK) has joined forces with banks in the country and the Shared Electronic Banking Co, or Knet, to upgrade its Eidity app.
The app facilitates the gifting of Eidia or monetary gift to any mobile number registered in the State without the need for a banking account. Enhanced features include a tracking and monitoring system as well as the option to send a special note.
“The application, the first of its kind in the region, is offered within the CBK strategy of encouraging the switch to digital services and utilizing [the] latest technology to develop electronic payment and transfer services and business models to provide flexible, swift and secure services,” CBK said.
