Islamic banking veteran Raja Teh Maimunah Raja Abdul Aziz has been tapped to lead Malaysia’s AEON Digital Bank as its CEO, IFN Fintech has learned.
Raja Teh Maimunah, currently the managing director of wholesale banking at AmBank Group, has tendered her resignation. She will begin her new role with AEON Digital, also known as ACS Digital, on the 1st December 2022, IFN Fintech can confirm. ACS Digital is one of two Islamic bank digital licensees of Bank Negara Malaysia.
A well-known name within the banking industry, Raja Teh Maimunah has an illustrious career spanning over two decades in Islamic finance, investment banking and digital innovation. Prior to joining AmBank Group in 2017, she was the managing director/CEO of Hong Leong Islamic Bank while also serving as chief operations officer for innovation and transaction banking at group level. She also had international experience holding senior positions at Kuwait Finance House and Bahrain’s Bank Alkhair.
Slated to be operational in 2024, ACS Digital is strengthening its management. The digital bank start-up earlier this month also recruited Poorani Ramachandran of Bank Pembangunan Malaysia and Danajamin Nasional as its CFO.
